Hello and thank you for checking with us on the Bennett Natural XL High Loft Beds for Teens. Yes you can put a bed underneath. We have it available with a queen underneath as the Becks Natural L Shaped Loft Bed https://thebeanbagstore.com/becks-nat.... On the Beck the ladder is configured on the end.
Having the ladder on the front as shown on the Bennett will remove 14.72 inches (the width of the ladder) from the opening. You can get it configured on the end at https://thebeanbagstore.com/becks-nat... on the Becks Natural XL College Loft Beds. In addition the posts are all 2.5 inches, so you can remove 5 inches from the total width, depending on whether the ladder is on the front or on the end. Hope that helps.
